Meeting Minutes October 24, 2011
The General Membership meeting of the Missaukee Trail Blazers was held Monday, October 24, 2011 at the EMS Building in Lake City, MI and called to order at 8:00 PM by President Fred Bartholomew. Vice-President Teresa LaFond, Secretary Glennice Perrigo, Treasurer Lorie Kittle, Trustees Butch Wagner, John Knapp and Dean Sloat were present. There were twelve members present.
A motion was made by Walter Hunt supported by Larry Poshadlo to approve the minutes of the September 24, 2011 General Membership meeting. Motion passed.
Lorie Kittle gave the Treasurers’ report showing a balance of $34,281.91. A motion was made by Larry Poshadlo supported by Roger Freed to approve the treasurers’ report. Motion passed.
New Trail Status: The new trail (from behind the Road Commission to Sanborn Road, Sanborn Road to Randall Road) has been completed and the DNR has approved funding. Fred and Karen Bartholomew have the new trail signed. The Club is to submit all expenses after December 31, 2011.
Fred reported that all papers have been filed for the Federal non-profit status. Fred also checked into phone extenders for the radios and will give the information to Dennis Aldrich to go over and to advise the Club. Fred brushed some of the trails with the new tractor.
New Business: Fred and Brett from the DNR went over the trails for signage. The signage was not properly done last year so we did not get all of our DNR money. Fred has asked for volunteers for signage for Friday, Saturday and Sunday of this week. Teresa LaFond will call members. Volunteers are to meet at 9:00 AM at the parking lot of the Hometown Café. In case of rain the signage will be done Friday, Saturday and Sunday of next week. Fred reported that there are a lot of signs missing. We must have the signage done before December 1, 2011.
The trail construction at the Manistee Bridge has been approved for funding and the project will be started in the spring. The strips need to be put back on the trail for this season, also the boards on the 131 bridge need to be replaced. Trail inspection will be done by the DNR on December 1, 2011.
Fred read an announcement there will be a Fun Run Benefit for Special Olympics at Dingman’s Bar on January 14, 2012.
The 50/50 drawing was won by Dean Sloat and was donated back to the Club.
A motion was made by Larry Poshadlo supported by Jim Leeuw to adjourn. Motion passed and meeting adjourned at 8:50 PM. November 28, 2011 is the next scheduled meeting.
